BBJI OccMed designs and delivers customized OSHA-compliant medical surveillance programs tailored to your specific workplace risks. Rather than defaulting to maximum testing, we develop well-reasoned protocols based on actual exposure, regulatory requirements, and risk–benefit considerations.
HazMat & HAZWOPER Evaluations
OSHA requires periodic medical surveillance, typically every 18 months, for hazardous materials workers. We provide comprehensive HAZWOPER evaluations in accordance with:

Exams are conducted based on job descriptions, anticipated exposure levels, and required personal protective equipment. We also perform respirator medical clearance under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.

When appropriate, we incorporate targeted biologic monitoring and imaging, including chest X-rays, based on individualized risk assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Silica Surveillance
Our NIOSH-certified medical assistants conduct pulmonary function testing in-office. Chest X-rays are coordinated efficiently to meet OSHA silica standards.
We schedule group surveillance sessions to streamline compliance, minimize employee downtime, and reduce employer cost.
Asbestos Surveillance
We perform both initial and periodic asbestos surveillance exams, including coordination of required chest X-rays with certified “B” readings. Evaluations include detailed exposure history, regulatory questionnaires, and respirator clearance as indicated.

HazMat Deleader Exams
We complete HazMat Deleader Supervisor applications in accordance with M.G.L. c.149 §6–6F½ and 453 CMR 6.00. Our surveillance programs are physician-directed and specifically tailored to the hazards associated with each worker’s role.
Tuberculosis Testing
We perform a one-visit Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) blood test through a certified lab. This test provides us with an objective result within two to five days and eliminates the risk of patients not returning for a second visit. We perform Tuberculosis skin tests per request.
Lab Animal Allergy Questionnaire Evaluations
Lab Animal Allergy Questionnaire evaluations are part of an employer’s screening and surveillance program to reduce the health burden of animal lab allergies. The evaluation is consistent with general recommendations of the Institute of Laboratory Animal Research (ILAR) and the American Association of Animal Laboratory Science (AAALS).
Respirator Medical Clearance & Fit Testing
Our providers are well-versed in OSHA Respiratory Standard 1910.134 and assess medical fitness for tight-fitting respirator use. Our providers evaluate medical fitness through review of the OSHA Respirator Questionnaire. NIOSH-certified medical assistants conduct Respirator fit testing and Pulmonary Function Testing when needed. All testing meets OSHA compliance standards.
Vision Testing
We provide comprehensive occupational vision screening, including:

Surveillance Audiometry
We offer complete baseline and annual audiometric testing in an OSHA-compliant sound booth that blocks external noise for accurate results. Testing meets standards set by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC), and all audiometry is conducted by fully trained and certified medical assistants.
Laboratory Support
We maintain established relationships with multiple laboratories to ensure timely, reliable testing. Our experienced in-office phlebotomists support efficient specimen collection and streamlined reporting.
