Meet Dr. Chima Ohaegbulam

A board-certified neurosurgeon and recognized leader in spine surgery, Dr. Ohaegbulam specializes in treating a wide range of spinal conditions, including degenerative disorders, disc herniations, spinal stenosis, instability, and tumors. His clinical expertise is matched by his commitment to innovation and patient-centered care.

As former Chief of Spinal Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital, Dr. Ohaegbulam has helped shape the future of spine care in Boston. He is a pioneer in adopting advanced technologies that improve outcomes and minimize risk, including spinal navigation systems, particularly robotic-assisted surgery, and motion-sparing procedures like cervical disc replacement. He has performed more adult procedures using Mazor Stealth Robotic technology than any other physician in the Boston area, making him one of the region’s most experienced robotic spine surgeons.

A Global Perspective, A Local Leader

Born in the United Kingdom and raised in Nigeria, Dr. Ohaegbulam earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria before completing his neurosurgical residency and fellowship in complex spine surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. He now performs surgery at New England Baptist Hospital and Boston Outpatient Surgical Suites in Waltham.

Dr. Ohaegbulam is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and North American Spine Society (NASS), and has contributed to numerous publications and book chapters that advance the field of neurosurgery.
